Description

Iodine is a crucial trace elements for corals and for inverts and unfortunately its also highly reactive meaning that the levels drop down again very quickly.

The best way to maintain your iodine levels are to raise them naturally with Atoll Tangalicious Nori as its has elevated levels of iodine (yes other nori will work, just not as effective)
We use the Two Little Fishies pouch feeders instead of the clips as the fish tend to pull the algae off the clips. Get extra pouches and load up a bunch of pouches in advance. Put a fresh pouch on the tank in the morning and replace the pouches as soon as you see they are empty. If your tangs are going crazy and destroying the nori right away, it's because you are not feeding nori often enough. Tangs should ideally have nori there all the time as they prefer to graze. Start feeding them all the time, and within 2 weeks the frenzy for nori will become more calm and they will return to a natural grazing behaviour. This is also a great habit so that your more delicate fish get a chance to eat nori such and moorish idols, wrasse etc.

Try to raise your iodine naturally and if that doesnt work, then you should use this product. If you dont have tangs, then you must use this product.

We have a med bioload of tangs in our coral tanks and when we are able to put fresh pouch feeders on a few times a day we can easily keep our iodine levels at 60 ppb. When we are busy and are only able to put nori in once per day, our Iodine levels drop to 30 ppb.

Several veteran reefers like Dayne have iodine levels in the 200 range as they have very heavy tang bio loads and feed them constantly - and his tanks looks great at 200 ppb.

Around 500 ppb is when Iodine seems to become of major concern. Do water changes to bring it down.
