Atoll Complete Frozen Fish Food is a premium frozen food for saltwater and reef aquarium fish made with whole mysid shrimp, bluefin tuna, scallops, nori seaweed and fish eggs.

We developed Complete in a marine livestock wholesale facility with two priorities: provide excellent nutrition and make the food as clean as possible.

Real seafood ingredients provide a variety of nutritious foods for different marine fish, while our quadruple-washing process using 0 TDS RO/DI water before and after processing helps remove unnecessary material before it reaches your aquarium.

The result is a clean, nutritious everyday frozen food for everything from tangs and angelfish to wrasses, clownfish, anthias and finicky eaters.

What's in Atoll Complete Frozen Fish Food?

Every ingredient has a purpose:

• Whole mysid shrimp — a highly palatable, nutrient-rich food for marine fish, including clownfish and wrasses.
• Bluefin tuna — finely diced, high-protein, low-fat seafood for carnivorous and omnivorous marine fish.
• Scallops — nutritious seafood that we've found particularly effective for encouraging finicky and reluctant fish to eat.
• Nori seaweed — a marine algae food source for tangs, rabbitfish, angelfish and other herbivorous and omnivorous fish.
• Fish eggs — small, nutrient-rich food particles ideal for anthias, smaller fish and finicky eaters.

Together, these ingredients provide different nutritional profiles, textures and food sizes in a single frozen fish food.

Nutrition is only half of what matters in a reef aquarium.

Everything you feed eventually affects the aquarium, so we wanted to remove as much unnecessary material from the food as practical before it ever reaches your tank.

Atoll Complete is quadruple washed in 0 TDS RO/DI water before and after processing.

Why Do We Wash Atoll Complete After Processing?

Because chopping and processing seafood releases additional material.

We found that washing the raw ingredients alone wasn't enough, so we wash the food again after processing and before packaging.

Our goal is simple:

Keep the nutrition in the food. Remove what doesn't need to go into the aquarium.

Developed Where Getting Fish to Eat Matters

Atoll Complete wasn't developed around a marketing table. It was developed in our marine livestock wholesale facility.

We regularly receive newly imported saltwater fish that arrive underfed, stressed or reluctant to eat. We needed a nutritious frozen food that different types of marine fish would readily accept without unnecessarily loading our systems with dirty food.

Through feeding and observing large numbers of marine fish, we selected a combination of mysid shrimp, tuna, scallops, nori and fish eggs that provides different tastes, textures and particle sizes.

If feeding is easy, it's repeatable.

How to Feed Atoll Complete Frozen Fish Food

How Much Atoll Complete Should I Feed?

Feed approximately as much Atoll Complete as your fish will consume within 2–3 minutes.

Start small — you can always thaw more.

Whenever possible, we prefer several smaller feedings instead of one large feeding. Stop feeding once uneaten food begins settling to the bottom of the aquarium.

How Should I Thaw Atoll Complete?

For feeding fish:

1. Break off the amount of frozen food you intend to feed.
2. Thaw it in a small amount of 0 TDS RO/DI water.
3. Stir lightly if necessary.
4. Strain through a fine, soft white aquarium net.
5. Discard the thaw water.
6. Feed gradually over 2–3 minutes.

Atoll Complete is already quadruple washed, so rinsing isn't required. We still recommend straining after thawing because it allows you to discard the thaw water and additional fine material instead of adding it to your aquarium.

When preparing food specifically for corals or anemones, aquarium water can be used for thawing instead.

Frequently Asked Questions About Atoll Complete

Is Atoll Complete Good for Finicky Saltwater Fish?

Yes. Getting reluctant fish to eat was one of the reasons Atoll Complete was developed.

In our marine systems, we found scallops and fish eggs particularly effective at encouraging feeding responses from finicky fish. Complete combines these with mysid shrimp, tuna and nori to provide several tastes, textures and particle sizes in every feeding.

What Fish Can Eat Atoll Complete?

Atoll Complete is designed for a wide variety of saltwater aquarium fish, including clownfish, wrasses, anthias, tangs, rabbitfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, hawkfish, dottybacks, basslets, cardinalfish, blennies and gobies.

The mixture of whole mysid shrimp, diced seafood, nori, fish eggs and smaller food particles makes Complete particularly well suited to mixed reef aquariums containing fish with different feeding preferences.

What's the Difference Between Atoll Complete and Feeding Only Mysid Shrimp?

Mysid shrimp is an excellent marine fish food. For some applications, including our breeding clownfish and seahorses, we actually prefer feeding whole Atoll Prime Frozen Fish Food.

A mixed reef aquarium is different.

Atoll Complete starts with whole mysid shrimp and adds bluefin tuna, scallops, nori seaweed and fish eggs, providing additional nutritional variety, tastes, textures and food sizes in a single feeding.

This means tangs can pick at nori, finicky butterflyfish can target scallops and fish eggs, wrasses and clownfish can take mysid and seafood, while anthias and smaller fish can select the smaller particles.

For a tank containing many different types of marine fish, that's exactly what Complete was designed to do.

Is Atoll Complete Good for Clownfish and Wrasses?

Yes. Whole mysid shrimp is an important component of Atoll Complete and is readily accepted by many clownfish and wrasses.

Our experience with mysid came partly from our own clownfish breeding systems. After experimenting with different mysid shrimp, we observed significant differences in both food cleanliness and breeding performance.

After switching to the mysid shrimp now used in Atoll Prime Shrimp and Atoll Complete, we observed our clownfish resume breeding and produce larger egg clutches.

This is an observation from our own breeding systems rather than a controlled nutritional study, but it played an important role in selecting the shrimp we use today.

Can Seahorses Eat the Mysid Shrimp in Atoll Complete?

Yes. We've successfully fed the same mysid shrimp to our seahorses.

Our experience began when Paul Hughes of Advanced Aquarium Consultancy in the UK visited our facility to help improve our seahorse breeding. After seeing our experience with the shrimp in our clownfish systems, he suggested trying it with the seahorses.

Although the whole mysid initially looked too large, the seahorses readily ate it and we subsequently observed improved breeding activity.

For juvenile seahorses unable to consume whole mysid, Paul recommends finely shredding the shrimp until they are large enough to take whole pieces.

Does Frozen Fish Food Raise Nitrate and Phosphate?

Yes. All fish food introduces nutrients into an aquarium. Those nutrients are necessary to feed your animals.

The goal is to avoid introducing unnecessary material along with the nutrition.

That's why Atoll Complete is washed in 0 TDS RO/DI water both before and after processing. We also recommend straining the food after thawing, feeding appropriate amounts and removing uneaten food.

Can I Feed Atoll Complete Every Day?

Yes. Atoll Complete was developed as an everyday frozen food for saltwater and reef aquarium fish.

We prefer several smaller feedings when possible.

If your schedule doesn't allow frequent frozen-food feeding, Atoll Complete can also be used alongside Atoll Prime Pellets and Atoll Clownfish Food in an automatic feeder.

Is Atoll Complete Good for Fish in Quarantine?

Yes. Quarantine and newly imported fish were major considerations when we developed Atoll Complete.

New arrivals may be underweight, stressed or reluctant to eat, so in our quarantine systems we typically offer small amounts 5–8 times per day while conditioning newly imported fish.

Before each feeding, we siphon remaining food from the previous feeding. We then provide another small selection of food and observe what remains before the next feeding.

This gives reluctant fish repeated opportunities to eat while preventing uneaten food from accumulating in the quarantine system.

Once the fish are eating aggressively and regaining condition, feeding frequency can be reduced.
